Common questions
Most reports we receive come down to one of the points below.
The app does not find my device
The phone and the player must sit on the same Wi-Fi network. A guest network, a mobile data connection, a VPN, or a router with client isolation switched on will keep the search empty even though both devices are powered up.
Check as well that the local network permission was granted to the app, and that network control has not been disabled in the settings of the player itself.
Where do I allow the local network permission?
Open iOS Settings, find TV Remote Control in the list of apps, and switch Local Network on. iOS asks for this only once, so if it was declined the first time, the switch is the only way back.
Some buttons do nothing
The app can only send the commands your equipment is willing to accept. Support differs between models and firmware versions, and a manufacturer update can change it. Volume and power, in particular, depend on how the television is wired to the player.
Typing on the television
Text can be passed from the phone only while a field on the screen is open and ready for input. Please enter passwords and card details on the equipment itself where that option exists.
Subscriptions
Payment for a paid plan goes through the App Store, so the plan itself is managed under Apple ID / Subscriptions in iOS Settings, and refunds are decided by Apple. Write to us anyway if something was charged that you did not expect, and we will help you work out what happened.
Independence notice
TV Remote Control is an independent application by StudioX Nexus Ltd and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Roku, Inc. or any television manufacturer. For faults in the equipment itself, please contact its manufacturer.
